I’m contemplating a career change that requires a little different physical qualities than I’ve currently been training. So, I’m going to start doing some pullups. I’m going to add weight so that my effective bodyweight stays the same even if I happen to cut some weight.
I rode my bike to campus today against what must have been a 25 mph headwind. I literally got slowed to a near stop at the top of a couple hills when the wind gusted up.
I foresee Sheryl Crow becoming into me.
Happy Independence Day, go out and utilize your Constitutional Rights. Pen an eccentric rant against the government, buy a gun and tell some soldiers trying to stay in your house to go to Hell.
Personally, I slept in until about 8:30 or so and went for a bike ride. Nothing like getting up and pushing peddals for an hour or so and I’ve been doing a ton of housework since then. That and drinking a ton of water. I picked up a gallon jug of drinking water in Thompson, Iowa and I’ve been doing the bodybuilder thing carrying it around and trying to finish it by the end of the day. Between that and the other fluid I drink, I know I’m exceeding a gallon a day. I think this makes the creatine work better, and I’m positive it makes selling plasma easier.
Now, I feel kind of dopey posting these because it’s not very far compared to how far real cyclists ride and because I ride pathetically slow. I guess having the little map and posting this does give an element of accountability though. This just substantiates, tht I am in fact getting some physical activity on my off days.
This is also a good time to fish for info. My bike is an older early 70’s road bike. All I know about it is the aging decal says “PASCOE” and “England” and it has a parking permit from Beloit, Wisconsin dated 1974.. The local bike shop didn’t seem to know much about it. I’d gladly post some pictures if anyone could tell me anything about it.
Ok, not really. But I did ride my bike quite a way tonight. Here’s a map:
According to Google, it’s about 11.5 miles. That seems pretty legit, but then again, I’m not a cyclist.
I rode my bike to campus today, and now my testicles are paying the price. Not to mention simmering in ball soup the whole way. Ames is slanted down from my house all the way to campus, so the return trip is what sucks. Just more conditioning I suppose, with the benefit of actually taking me where I need to go.
